I got this bike a month ago and have been doing some minor repairs and test rides. Finally ready to take it on long trips, starting with the bike paths and trails around Washington DC!
Does anyone have any suggestions for the bike or trip?

I would swap that super tall stem with some nice bmx riser bars, and see how big of a tyre I could fit on it

What’s the bolt in the top of the seat stays? Never seen that before.
I would put a front rack on it for sure. And probably a rear rack too if you want to do any light touring. I am not partial to frame bags myself. But that’s mostly ego or whatever – I think they hide the beauty of the bike too much. Not to mention they get in the way of water bottle mounts.
I agree with the other commenter that it might look better and be more comfortable with a different stem and bars setup. Maybe some Ritchey Kyote bars. Or Dimension riser bars. Something with some backsweep.
