I was complaining about the short runtime of my Rydesafe, $30 (lower light) — 3 hours exactly on steady flash mode. Some of you were adamant that that was good for a small light and said I was being ridiculous to expect more. I disagreed.
I bought a Cygolite Hotrod 120, $38 (upper) — been on steady flash 7 hours so far, still going strong, and brighter than the Rydesafe. They’re the same size, both micro USB, no difference other than the Cygolite’s runtime is over twice the Rydesafe and counting.
Thanks for the recommendations for this light to those who gave them.

Have one of these myself and I love it
I have one of those and while I do charge it every week or so just in case, I’m not sure I’ve ever had it die or not turn on, ever. Great light
I have 2 hotrods becuase they are the best.
My Rockbros seat rail clamp, accelerometer triggered brake light has an unbelievable runtime. I’ve never actually run it down below 50% in the year I’ve had it, commuting an hour 3 days a week. I usually just charge it every 3rd time I charge my Knog Road headlight (which has a pretty poor battery life) and it’s usually showing 3/4 full.
It’s an awesome light, very happy with it.
I notice cygolite embraces pulse width modulation on all of their lights. I looked at several of mine through a rolling shudder and you can see the periods pretty easily. They have a good ratio of pulse to rest at like 59hz or something.
