Curious. I'm 25, started out mountain biking with my friend in middle school at the local park, which graduated to tiny dirt jumps. At the same time I started seeing BMX videos on YouTube, and the Stevie Churchill OSS edits in particular grabbed my interest, since he had a real powerful riding style, as well as also flatland really captured my imagination. My uncle was friends with a bike shop owner, and they hooked me up with my first BMX (the chrome eastern trail digger in this photo). I started trying to flatland and sucked, but didn't really take BMX seriously until I had a bad mountain bike crash (fractured several vertebrae) at a downhill park and needed a "safer" option. Luckily I had another friend into BMX that I could ride with which helped get me started, and eventually took on the hobby more independently. Now years later, as a corporate office worker, I still hit the skatepark a couple times a month and occasionally street cruise.

I’m about to sound lame but I stopped skating cause my friends started getting into drinking and drugs (12-14 years old) and I got sick of skating alone and was losing motivation. Met another skater who was getting into Bmx who was also straight edge and so I transitioned into bmxing and so did he and the rest is history. Then I learned that straight edge kids suck like most labels in life.
When your old enough you just start out on a 20″ bike that even though wasn’t a bmx per say it leads to the bmx being a nostalgic comfortable ride. Born in 84 turned 40 the beginning of this month and just picked up a cult gateway to cruise around on and get back and forth to work and the stores on. Its also been electrified with a mid drive motor it stupid fun to be honest but other than wheelies by someone that can manage them its probably not going to get tricked and is just mainly a super cruiser.

Born in ’85. First “big kid” bike was my Kuwahara KZ-1 which I still have. Thought bmx racing and tricks looked cool and watched bmx bandits and 3 ninjas on repeat so there we go. Don’t trick around anymore but still love cruising.
