A transport minister has revealed he “managed to nab quite a few cyclists” during his long police career as he was pressed over government action to tackle dangerous riding.

Lord Davies of Gower said there were laws already in place to deal with reckless cycling and pointed out it was the job of officers to enforce them.

Jeremy Kyle clashes with spokesperson for Cambridge Cycling Club arguing that cyclists create problems on the road and don’t pay any taxes.

  1. Let's turn this around, cyclists need to be positively encouraged to undertake cars, trucks and buses, and it heartens me to see them speeding through congested traffic and running red lights and doing all manner of reckless stunts on the road. Why? You may ask and the reason is easy, cyclists are generally very fit and healthy sporty types and organ doners are always needed.

  2. Tell me why a good 80% of drivers don't know the highway code and don't drive responsibly.
Heck i know someone that has been driving for 30 plus years, and she goes and asks what do the solid white lines in the middle of the road mean?
Like come on give me a flipping break! 🤦‍♂️

  3. Hate it when they say they pay road tax because they also have car,but they should pay for the bike as well.If you own two car you don’t pay just one lot of road tax

  4. There are some cyclists that are fine responsible road users, then there are some who use the road as their own personal gym. They feel they own personal safety is the responsibility of everyone else.

The Highway Code insists that the rest of us leave a 1.5 metres when passing(which I’m happy to give them) and yet they are happy to squeeze through the smallest of gaps putting themselves at great danger.

  5. Cyclists should be paying road tax, be registered and more importantly buy insurance. They do go through red lights, cycle on the wrong side of the road and cycle on pavements and are rarely admonished.

  6. Wat I dont get is there's ones that ride along the white lines in the middle off the road and they cry about giving them space when u over take the c..ts how can u ffs🤦‍♂️

  7. Cyclists are not motorists but still use the roads but don't contribute towards maintenance of roads via road tax. If they wish to use roads they should be made to follow the highway code and highway rules. Stop at lights and junctions. Do not cut across drivers causing accidents. If riding upto 4 a brest then the same speed as motorists should be followed to not hold up the traffic.

  8. Not all of us jump red lights and for some of us it is the only mode of transport available to us. I can't afford a car and there is no public transport at available between my village and the nearest town. I am scared everytime I cycle to town as car and van drivers are aggressive towards me because they can't always see safely ahead to overtake me causing them to drive far to close behind me, almost clipping me when they do overtake. I hate being called "you people". I wish I didn't have to risk my life every day !

  9. As a car driver, cyclist, pedestrian, I
Just laugh at the bell end car drivers who think they own the roads, fact is the nettled roads we have now came about through cyclists, most cyclists do pay road tax for their cars , not that road tax is garnered for the maintenance of roads

  10. nothing against cyclists at but if drivers have to give them more consideration then perhaps they should pay some kind of insurance .

  11. They dont pay road tax because they dont drive 4 ton hunks of metal on the roads. If a bike weighs the same as a car, it should be taxed. Until then stop being a triggered snowflake

  12. Men on public highways in pink lycra cycling for "fun" are pathetic. No problem if you want to use a bike to get to work or get somewhere, but to clog up the roads because it's your hobby makes you a selfish little sh*t. And you do cause pollution as you cause traffic jams. An expensive test, tax and insurance requirement will get rid of most of them. I'm sure that can be introduced without much difficulty.

  13. Roads are maintained by council funding, by people's council tax. Road tax is not just for maintaining roads, and is based on emissions. Bicycles do not cause any emissions.
