For those who are curious, I attempted the often discussed combination of a SRAM 12 speed cassette (NX that fits on HG) with a Deore 12 speed derailleur and shifter. The Shimano Deore parts are cheaper and more resilient but unless you have a microspline hub you run into finding a way to make the Deore Cassette fit and not all wheels want to play nice with a hub conversion to MS. So if you have a parts bin you can build a Frankenstein combo like this.

Long story short the combination of a Deore speed shifter and derailleur works perfectly well with a SRAM Eagle NX cassette and SRAM chain (you absolutely have to use the sram chain).

    Thank you for this info.

    Ywo things:

    1. You don’t absolutely need to use SRAM chain, but if you are buying new one anyway, those few more bucks won’t hurt

    2. Your chain is too long. Remove two links
