    That frame will have lost its structural integrity. Time for the bin.

  2. If that’s the down tube on what looks to be an aluminum frame, it’s dead, Jim. A serious safety hazard to ride.

  3. I’m no engineer – just a humble country cyclist – but that looks deep enough to compromise the structural integrity of the frame, therefore making it not safe, i.e. it’d need to be replaced. I’m sure other folks more knowledgeable than me could give you better info.

    How did this happen? I don’t recall seeing down tube damaged like that before.

    Regardless of how it happened, I hope you weren’t injured.

    That’s cooked. You can swap components to a new frame but the frame is scrap
