I moved up to a 50t from a 48t. First time running a 50t. I rode last night for 18 miles. Ratio old vs new is 2.82 (48/17) to 2.94 (50/17). See the image for more details. Based on the ride last night I question if I can make it up my biggest hill I normally ride. I’ll try Friday weather permitting. I loved the extra speed on the straights and little small ups and downs. We’ll see if my old knees can keep up.
I’m also now able to use the after market tensioners that I previously couldn’t at 48/17 without removing a chain link. The built in tensioners have not been fully fiunctional for about 5 years. This is 14yo Swobo Sanchez. The new chainring is a Deckas 144BCD 50t. $15 from Ali delivered and double the price on Amazon.
