I am also wondering about this question. Usually I use paint for model kits like cars, planes etc to cover dents instead of nail polish. You can work easier with it without leaving the bulging effect from the polish and also its easier to mix colors to achieve weird gradient spot colors.

I searched over internet and people say awesome stuff about this chrome paint:

There are videos in youtube where people test it but they use air pistols and I dont know how it will work with brush. I assume from experience that with two or three layers you can achieve an awesome results.

Good luck and let us know if it does the job 🙂

I would cover the indent with black paint if it doesn’t go away with vinegar

  3. That’d be quite difficult, becomes almost impossible if you were to re-chrome. I curate a few select chrome road and xbikes. I’m in SoCal, so very few options for chrome rework. Specifically, if surrounding paint has to be preserved.

Anyhow, here’s how I do it.

Stuff you need: White candle, lighter, Silver/Chrome foil transfer sheets, De-ruster(like Brasso or Barkeeper’s Friend), brass bristled toothbrush, Q-tips, 90 percent alcohol/mineral spirit, Saran wrap, 2K Clear Coat, some 3000 grit sandpaper.

1.) Clean rusted and pitted areas using brass bristled toothbrush and Brasso, until completely derusted. Clean off residue after
2.) Light candle, drop melted wax on painted/non-chrome sections.
3.) Do a final clean with 90 percent alcohol or mineral spirit, then Saran wrap the area while you prepare the other materials.
4.) Remove Saran wrap when ready, apply Silver/Chrome transfer sheet on affected areas. Press in place using Q-tips gently but firmly.
5.) Gently scrape off wax from protected areas and clean thoroughly with minerals spirit.
5.) Apply 2k clear coat according to instructions. Sand finish, the reapply wax if needed.
