Hello, my cassete has pretty big play when not engaged, to the point where when i freewheel it makes noise, when the cassete is engaged, the play is minimal.

Is the lock ring done up to 40Nm?
Could be the bearings in the freehub are going. If you removed the cassette you could identify is its the interface between them or if the play is in the freehub bearings.
Take the cassete of and check freehub for play then reinstall cassete and tighten to 40nm
You are probably missing a spacer. Had the same thing.

Are you missing the first spacer before putting on the cassette?
