I’ve been fixing up the neighbors old Schwinn Sierra SS (1994), but there’s a problem. I’ve detailed the frame, adjusted the brakes, and got the click shifting fully working again.

If it’s steel I’d get a hammer and a black of wood and smash it until it’s back into position. Probably not a good idea to do that to someone else’s bike in case they go ass over tit when the chainstay snaps in half lol

Some frames were made with bent chainstays on the drive side to reduce chain slap.

Take the rear wheel out. Does it come out smoothly?
if it’s bent from the factory, it will be fine. If it happened afterward, the dropouts will immediately be out of alignment.
