A while ago I got a sidewall puncture on a brand new tire (first ride…) that didn't seal and I didn't have plugs on me so I put in a tube to get home. Once home I put in two bacon strips and more sealant and inflated it. It held for a couple of days no problem.
Has anyone ever run bacon strips in a tire long-term? Am I asking for trouble running this? I've used dynaplugs for hundreds of miles without any problems but not on sidewall. I would just hate to toss an otherwise brand new tire.

I’m also interested in this. I literally just did the same on my own tire earlier today. Except my repair was for a smaller hole where a long nail punctured the tread and sidewall. I’m not worried about the tread repair but my sidewall has a single bacon strip.
I use kevlar thread and a half moon needle to repair from the inside, making sure I pick up in the casing reinforcements. I then glue a patch over the repair. I’ve done this to a few tyres now and had no issues!
