Christened my new Kona Dew build today. Perfect weather for it! She’s my dew it all adventure, bikepacking, city escaping bike. Turns out it shreds on gravel. I picked up the frame, wheels (ik they’re not 26” I’m sorry) and original flat bars, stem and seat-post for £60. I’ve set it up with deore xt 1×11 with a gold chain. It’s the first build I’ve done to completion myself which I’m chuffed about. Gearing was always the side of mechanics that scared me a bit but feeling a lot more confident now after setting up the new groupset and indexing it correctly myself. That being said I did get help from some wizards at the lbs when fitting a crankset I’d stupidly bought that was too wide and still maintaining a decent chain line.. I ever would of been able to do it!

Further note: I’m really pleased with the new brooks saddle addition, which I picked up for £40 being a mystery as the dealer had no clue what model it was. Turns out I’d bought one of only 600 saddles made for a French market around 1967 – model is the Brooks Professional Select. New in box were auctioning online for just shy of 1000!

There are further additions to come but they’ll mainly be gold accents, new bar tape and frame protection, with the wheels and tyres being re-examined later on down the line, money permitted.
