I found that my seatpost clamp compromises the mounting mechanism of my Cyclite bikepacking saddle bag, as the screw end makes the bag slip to one side when mounted tightly (The problem was there before I mounted the redshift seatpost). I was able to mitigate this somewhat by packing correctly. But I wondered, is there any reason I couldn’t just turn the clap around as seen in the picture? It appears to hold my weight. Have not ridden the bike yet though.

The clamp needs to be above the frame cutout (the screw tightens the clamp, so it needs to be above the cutout for flexing, otherwise you dent the seatpost )
Thats the whole reasoning behind the placement. If you never really change the seatpost, you can switch it around, but its not meant to be that way
Some brands match the frame slot to the clamp gap, and others don’t. I think you can put the clamp gap wherever you want, and if the post doesn’t slip at a reasonable clamp screen torque, it’s fine.
It makes no difference. Many bikes have it each way.
