Hey r/bicycling community!

I’m torn between two used bikes I found in the same price range (~$750) and could use some advice:

  1. 2017 Specialized Allez E5 Sport:

    • Upgraded to an 11-speed Ultegra groupset
    • Has cheap carbon wheels from AliExpress
    • Lightweight aluminum frame with a race-oriented geometry
    • Rim brakes
  2. 2022 Trek Domane AL 3:

    • Stock components (likely Shimano Sora or Tiagra)
    • Alpha aluminum frame designed for endurance riding
    • Likely comes with disc brakes
    • Comfortable, relaxed geometry

I’m looking for a bike that balances performance and comfort. I ride mostly on paved roads and enjoy both long rides and occasional speed workouts.

Any insights on which would be a better choice? Thanks!

If you want playful and higher quality components, go with the Allez.
If you want reliable, lower quality components, go with the domane
