Hi, i have taken my genesis gd 20 on her maiden voyage. Loved it. With my birthday coming up i have considered treating her to some upgrades for smooth travels. Not sure where to start, but as I am using this as my main mode of transport, any thing that will make it faster and more efficient will be ideal. Thanks

I would start with a good bike fit. That saddle height is really low for the average rider… For reference, you’re not supposed to touch the ground while seated in the saddle. You’re supposed to get off the saddle to put your foot down. Too low a saddle could create issues in your knees and hips.
If that’s your correct saddle height I’d start by returning the bike and going down at least one, maybe two sizes.
Other than that just ride the damn thing and you’ll learn what you need most very quickly, I can’t imagine spending that much on a bike and after the first ride my thought is “I need upgrades, better consult the internet”
A seat post is a nice thing to have on a bike.
Before you get bitten by the upgrade bug, I’ve had my genesis nearly 10 years now and chopped and changed it a fair bit.
– sora to tiagra, no real benefit beyond the gear cables being out the way.
– TRP sypre to HY/RD, not much between them, maybe worth doing if you can get the calipers on the cheap.
– changed stock wheels to Mavic aksiums which came on my road bike, no real benefit.
Best changes I did were putting on the fattest pair of gravel kings I could get on there and a cut out saddle. Oh and having a handlebar bag for snacks.

Are you sure it fits? Your saddle is very low. Usually a good first upgrade would be tyres on a new bike.
Maybe a seat post? /s
