1986 Schwinn Paramount. This bike initially came with a full vintage Campagnolo Super Record group. It was too nice to ride and the gear ratios didn’t t make sense for my local terrain. The wheelset was also tubular, which is something I am not interested in dealing with. So I decided to swap it out for a more modern groupset.
While looking for newer groups, I noticed that everything is anodized or carbon fiber. I wanted something different and went with silver. Unfortunately, a new full Potenza group are harder to find at a reasonable price. Ended up going with Centaur.
I had the frame cold-set to 130 and the brake mounts drilled to accommodate recessed bolts. Then I hung the new parts on the bike. Overall, it took me about 4 hours of wrenching to finish the bike.
