Hey, so it’s been about 20 years since I’ve hopped on 2. My kids are always out riding, and I wanted to pick up something to join every now and then. Ended up grabbing this 29” Cult Devotion with some add-ons. My problem is I’m 6’3” 270lb built like a brick house. Bike currently has these tires on it:
29×2.35 Schwalbe Racing Ralph tires on it (more of a mtb tire look). I’ve got these above max psi (max psi on tire is 50).
Tires definitely don’t support me,as even slightly above the max psi, they run a little flat when I’m riding.
The bike also came with the vans/ cult tires with 65 psi. I don’t think that’ll make a difference. I’m looking for help lol, this bike is awesome but I can’t enjoy it without a tire solution.

  1. First ensure you’re holding pressure. Check and inflate every ride. No tubes hold pressure forever. I have S&M speedballs. They deflect a little but are comfy.

  2. Same build here! 6’1” and 270, I have the 26” version of this bike and ride it with the vans/cult tires inflated slightly over max and it’s perfect. I’ve taken it to parks, street riding, etc… although pretty lightly, it’s been great. Definitely had to get the wheel tried a few times after a pump track session though!

I had thay same bike. I had the vans cult tires inflated to max. No issues

It’s fairly normal these days to embrace the softer sides of tires these days for a better ride quality. You could look into the Schwalbe big apples in 29, I think those are rated to 70-80psi

  5. Maxxis Hookworms come in 29”. The pattern is fast and grippy, and when I rode for Boston Pedicab, this was our go-to…pulling 5X your weight per tire.
