First of all, it worked. Southwest airline from Denver to Austin. TSA knew it was a bike, but still let me through. Gate staffs asked what's inside, I said personal mobility device.

Thoughts: I wouldnt do this again. Carrying a Brompton in a dimpa bag through the airport is heavier than I thought. I a 5 feet 7 women, who workout quite a bit so I'd assume my muscles would carry me through, but man oh man, the bike gets heavy after a while.

In the future: I just bought a bike cover on AliXpress that allows you to still push the bike in cart mode. Will try that next time. Also bought a Samsonite Stryde 2 Large Glider so that I can check in my brompton next time when I travel internationally.

  1. I have also cut the bottom out of a Dimpa bag so I can roll it while in the bag. I put a 2nd uncut bag inside so can bag it more traditionally when appropriate

I hope you’ll share photos of the Brompton in the checked large glider when it arrives. 🙂

  3. How often ist that scenario tho? In the end Something Like a Kwiggle IS smaller but then No luggage ontop with you

  4. Thanks for doing the research and documenting it. I’m always worried that if one checks it in the Dimpa bag, baggage handler will do their best to toss around. It seems like dedicated luggage is the way to go.
