I thinks it’s more of a technique situation than a needing clips situation. It’s hard to tell in slow mo but looks like you preloaded too soon and are just jumping off the bike before the jump instead of working with the bike. Also think your weight is too forward on the landing. I don’t have many jumps on my local trails so I’m really not the person to advise. Please take my words with a grain of salt.

Yes clips are way better. But that fail wasn’t the peddles. You weren’t going fast enough and tried to jerk the bike in the air. It’s sometimes better to go fast and let the momentum do everything. Unless your boosting a trick or backflip 🤣

I think I’d you went faster and we’re so worried about preloading you’ve sailed it. Hard to tell speed in slow mo

More like you need to improve your techniques. Get a few lessons.

Absolutely not.
As someone who rides Whistler, the thought of having my feet locked to the pedals is terrifying.
Fix your form instead of looking for a bandaid.

It is easier to learn bad habits and compensate for imperfect form/weight distribution while clipped in. I’d recommend staying with flats while doing some repetitive, small consequence jumps until you really get your body’s center of gravity over your bottom bracket and your feet “wedged” (heel of your front foot down and heel of your back foot up) while in the air.

Clips won’t help this, in fact it’s more likely you will just do even more damage. Learn proper technique before sticking yourself to your pedals.
