Thinking about buying a used Canyon Endurace with the stock DT Swiss free hub. The owner sent me a couple photos of a tune up he purchased from a LBS. I have always used very light lube on free hubs, but the LBS did this monstrosity. Wondering if I need to open it back up and clean it out or if it’ll be fine for 1000 miles or so before midsummer tune up.

Yes that is far too much grease, and may cause problems with sticking.
I don’t think it is a DT Swiss freehub body, as far as I’m aware they only have 3 pawl hubs or ratchet.
If the grease have the consistency of ketchup, don’t worry, the pawls will swim in grease. Turn the wheel by hand and if you hear uniform noise click-click, it’s okay. I do my grease for frewheel hub thin and stuff the hub with grease. I run like a champ.
