  1. Hello All,

Im going to be taking part in the BT700 in Ontario next month and i’m looking to connect with anyone else who is doing the same. Whether to share tips, or partial ride together, or meet up for a butter tart.

If you wanted to private message with your email for correspondence. I also have a discord that can be utilized for text/chat/file share.

Please throw down your experience in the comments if you have have any learned tips for this one.

    thank you,

    -T

  2. Im taking a shot at an itt on it this year and have done it as a bikepacking trip in the past, dm me if you have any specific questions. It’s a fun route, challenging but not over the top in any way.

  3. I’ve never rode in the race but I’ve done the majority of the trail in separate stretches.

The length of rail trail from Mildnay to Port Elgin is the most demoralizing stretch of rail trail I’ve ever ridden. Prepare yourself for that stretch to absolutely destroy your day and possibly be the worst section of the BT700.

There are a few sections with some of the most pristine views though. Do enjoy it.

Only other things that no one ever talks about out is the majority of the BT700 runs through Tornado Alley for Ontario. Weather can turn nasty in under 10 minutes. Be extra mindful, many of the stretch’s will have little opportunity to seek shelter.

Depending on when you get into Southampton I recommend stopping in at Gerry’s Fast Food. Hopefully they’re open. Best of luck to you and remember it’s about the finish; not the speed.
