I cleaned bar tape residue from this alloy handlebar, and found pitting. You can feel the pitting under your finger, but the bar still feels solid. It’s not a really thin, lightweight bar anyway. I’m not sure what would have caused it. Does it seem too bad to use?

It looks like a lot of aluminum corrosion. I personally would replace it and probably wrap it and give it to my worst enemy
A handlebar carries a lot of your body weight. A handlebar failure can cause a serious accident and serious injuries. New bars can be pretty cheap. For my own bike, I would replace this.
It should be gone. I wouldn’t use it.
New bars are quite a bit cheaper than dental work.
