I’ve been unknowingly riding gravel for 10 years on a 600€ hardtail MTB and when asking around what would make sense for a new bike was told that gravel bikes are a thing.

Revolt X Advanced Pro 2 (2023), absolutely love this thing and super happy with the suspension that I felt was needed. Spent my first day on it going over most of my favorite local tracks through the woods and it climbs like a beast, it’s so much fun pushing hard on it! IK suspension on gravel is a bit of a controversial one but the 40mm rudy and the suspension post (a blessing coming from hardtail, feels like I’m riding on a cloud going down tractor tracks) are the perfect middle ground for me.

I did screw up my back a little bit because we set the seatpost up too high as I’m too big for the M frame according to Giant’s data sheet (182,5cm, M caps out at 181) so we just put the seat all the way up. 50km later I took measurements using the Giant provided factor and realized with the seatpost still partially lowered from going downhill I was still a good 3 centimeters higher than needed. We’re adjusting it when I get off work and then I’m back on for another tour, if this goes over better for my back I’m getting the frame registered and the bike insured. For me it’s 100% worth the money spent (~3600€ off buycycle)
