Live at Met Gala 2024 With Vogue

This year, the Vogue Met Gala livestream will be hosted by actor Gwendoline Christie, producer and actor La La Anthony, and model Ashley Graham. Multi-hyphenate Emma Chamberlain will return as Vogue’s special correspondent, to interview some of the biggest stars on the carpet. Be sure to tune in for all of the fashion fun—where one can spectate all of the A-listers as they arrive in style.

The 2024 Met Gala will celebrate the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” and the official dress code is “The Garden of Time.” The exhibit will feature approximately 250 rare items drawn from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection. Spanning over 400 years of fashion history, the pieces will include designs by Schiaparelli, Dior, Givenchy, and more. Some garments that are too fragile to ever be worn again—such as a Charles Frederick Worth ball gown from 1877—will also be displayed via video animation, light projection, AI, CGI, and other forms of sensory stimulation.

for months designers and stylists have been collaborating with their celebrated guests to achieve soral glory for this the first Monday in May and now after thousands of hours of planning and fitting their Creations are moments away from being revealed I’m gwendel and Christie and I’ll be with Ashley Graham all night interviewing some of the most notable figures in the world who will line up here in the tunnel as they await their big moment they’ll make their way up these stairs as photographers J journalists and even other guests shout their names and capture every detail and once they’re at the top they’ll find our co-host La La Anthony that’s right we’re here to talk with everyone from this year’s co-chair Zinda Bad Bunny Jennifer Lopez and Chris Hemsworth to the entire guest list that has been kept under WS until tonight this is the 2024 met Galla red carpet [Music] the costume institute’s newest ex exhibition Sleeping Beauties Reawakening fashion opens to the public this Friday May 10th it’s such an exciting time everyone in attendance tonight is going to get a first look at the exhibition but first they’re making their grand entrance right here tonight’s dress code is the garden of time and we’re expecting to see a wide range of exciting interpretations and here to tell us more about the entire evening is a woman who has been co-chair of the mech Gala since 1995 she is the incomparable Dame my fairy Godmother Anna winter is here how are you thank you I’m excited to be here tonight it’s such an exciting night now what’s something people may not realize about planning the Met Galla maybe how much time it takes uh a garden of time but it’s a a huge amount of time on so many people’s part whether they work in the museum or uh all of V many people from condas and I’m just so grateful for the army of people that put this together and we start planning it uh over a year in advance we’re already on to 25 and 26 so God is in the details yes absolutely now Anna do you have a favorite ele El of this year’s exhibition my the my favorite element of the exhibition is always the pleasure of seeing the visitors that come and see the show and understand the magic of what Andrew produces every year and that really is the biggest reward that we have of course tonight is wonderful and really fun and I can’t wait to see what everyone wears but in the end we’re doing this for the museum and the great work that Andrew does absolutely and Anna speaking of the museum what’s your favorite part about collaborating with the museum for the me Gala working working with the costume Institute is such a great pleasure Andrew has the most amazing team but everyone in the museum we’ve work together now for 27 years so we know each other pretty well but they’re always so accommodating and helpful and excited so it’s it’s a great partnership it’s going to be a fabulous evening I’m so excited and I have a wonderful time thank you you too good luck thank you all right the arrivals on Fashion’s biggest and boldest night and with a dozen cameras across the carpet we’ve got you covered there’s much to admire each year starting with the decor itself the gala organizers always create an environment based on the exhibition perfectly representing the night’s theme I’m obsessed with tonight’s theme because I think that we got to really go and explore and have fun with the archival and the floral and just really thinking outside the box for this met I think also with regards to the decor it’s definitely a sensory experience and I was thrilled to hear that baz lerman’s been involved in generating it along with Katherine Martin that was exciting news yes the arrivals have officially begun and as always this year’s co-chairs are the first to show off their looks there’s the absolutely stunning Zenda oh my goodness she never fails what what is on her shoulder is that a hummingbird on her shoulder floating I am I am truly obsessed I think we’re in for a real treat tonight with Zen’s look literally whatever law roach does with Zena it slays it’s on every red carpet best dressed oh the makeup she let her eyebrows go this is Sensational I believe this is marel by John gallano and it is yet another piece of stupendous genius oh wow oh and I love the drama of the back absolutely beautiful Jennifer Lopez is also one of tonight’s incredible co-chairs and she has already made her way to the Met steps too let’s check her out JLo never disappoints and of course Jennifer Sensational looking like a Hollywood Vision as always look at her body her dress the shoes the hair the tan oh she has such a light within her doesn’t she she truly does how’s it going over there Lala it is always so exciting once the arrivals begin and I am beyond thrilled to be back here hosting the me Gala for the third year in a row gwendelyn and Ashley this is both of your first time hosting at the Met Gala what are you two looking most forward to tonight I am really having such a a fantastic time meeting so many different people that I’ve never met before finding out about them and generally um just vibing with Ashley oh gwendelyn and I are vibing we are having a little too much fun back here Lala we miss you though I miss you guys too you guys look stunning amazing so do you yes and we know that tonight’s dress code is the garden of time so we’re definitely trying to embody that talk to me a little bit about what inspired both of you guys’ look tonight um well my look is uh M on Mella by John gallano it is inspired by blood oranges I know that the entire marel team worked incredibly hard to find this supremely rare kind of color and uh I’m wearing a a water cage coat as well I’m I’m also giving uh some I’m evoking something of the show which is very close to my heart and I think was a glorious celebration in recent fashion history is your hair from the show maybe oh oh I’m I’m wearing ludvik and he actually 500 hours that he put all of these little crystals together we went a little dark we went a little mysterious and sexy with the flowers I I can breathe a little that’s all that that’s all that matters but Lala we are so excited to hear about your dress and what inspired it thank you so much you both are stunning like Visions when I’m looking at you both so my dress is McQueen and I just wanted to embody the darker side of the theme and I was so excited also to find pre-loved vintage accessories that I found on eBay they are stunning and just my look and I just feel confident I too can’t breathe but who needs to breathe we just got to be here and do our job a great job and that’s what that’s what I’m trying to do tonight but you both look stunning I feel great it’s going to be an incredible evening now let’s head back to the creation it’s for butterfly wings obviously scaparelli the DNA with the butterfly and it’s it’s been a part of their house for a long time and so I have to talk over here and um yeah just wanted to perfect for the Sleeping Beauty butterfly sleeps wakes up something more my mouth I’m like trying to like get work out it’s just so stunning now you’re a co-chair here tonight talk about what being a co-chair means cuz I know it’s a lot of responsibility it’s you know it’s actually not that bad and a calls you you have a lovely dinner the night before you you you host you’re going to greet all the guests you make a little announcement and let everybody know for the entertainment it’s not that bad actually it’s a it’s it’s quite the honor so it’s nice absolutely now this is your 14th time I know she told me that I was like I think I retired tonight I think that’s it for me so is it still like as exciting after all this time you know it’s lovely it’s a beautiful night so many people so many artists come together from different genres from music from film from Fashion you have businessmen here private Equity there’s all kinds of people here tonight and so it’s not often that you get that here yeah but you’re the queen always and Tommy I think you are Tommy your spring 2024 campaign it Revisited your iconic style of modern prep what was it about working with stray kids that inspired you they are as modern as you can get wow they are modern prep and they’re Global Superstars they they are a Kpop band from Korea and uh they’re embarking Upon A a 40 City Tour and they pack stadiums with 880,000 people oh wow and they have a a wild fan base all over the world just a little bit popular what are you most looking forward to when you go inside Tommy because this is not your first met what is it that still excites you about coming to the met each year well this is the event of the year and it’s full of energy uh we love seeing what people are wearing because this is the one chance people get to really sort of wear whatever they want true as long as it’s within keeping of the theme we want to make sure that Anna also approves absolutely yes it’s so lovely to see all of you meet you all have so much fun inside have a wonderful evening thank you left I am joined by the sweetest Soul Mindy King is here I saw you coming up the steps and I was like wow this is a look you have to tell me what inspired this amazing look tonight thank you I’m wearing gorav Gupta who’s an incredible Indian designer genius and my jewelry is shukra jewelry and they’re both Indian designers that is incredible so it makes me really happy to rep such talent Geniuses who happen to be from my community It’s amazing And this gown has a name it’s called the melting flower of time the melting flower of t o the oh yes it makes sense at the C you can see that it looks like a flower that does once blossoming and is now it is so stunning wowy this is this is an incredible look one of my favorites for Sabas Sai mukarji uh it is my second time at the Met but my first time wearing a sari um and when I when I thought of the dress code Garden of time I felt like it needed something Timeless and there’s nothing more Timeless than a sari and how long did it take to make your sari it’s the work on it truly Exquisite so this is all hand embroidery of course it is it’s taken let me get this number right because it’s extremely important when you talk about craftsmanship 1,95 man hours and 106 63 Craftsman embroidery workers everybody to make this garment I’m unsurprised because the work is really uh Sublime What goes into the dress you can see so many years of experience and talent and uh did you enjoy meeting the people in the aell who made it actually haven’t had the chance to meet them but I’ve seen so many videos and I’m so excited to bring all of that out to the world for everybody to see because it’s taken a lot of love and labor and a lot of effort and anything that’s gotten love the references are pulled from whether are many men that I I admire whether it’s Andre leonal or tavic Boseman but also it’s like you know it’s it’s Will’s quintessential style it’s like great strong shoulders and it feels like the references the 1940s and some Cho culture I’m like all of it feels like hot and straet and sexy it is sexy looking at it up close I’m like wow this is like no the detail is incredible so tell me what you’re looking forward to most tonight I’m looking forward to like I don’t know I I’m such a nerd I do want to see the collection that’s fine and I also want to like I want to see some old friends I have a lot of old friends here and people I admire but also was like I’m going to geek out cuz I have uh I’m sitting at the table with cardi B and it’s going be spring summer 2023 show where he did a bunch of these armor tops okay I don’t know if you remember but it’s a column dress version Taylor’s like yes I do yes of course it’s like this is amazing it’s all chantilli lace and with the these 3D flowers but you know I love per the theme it’s got that contrast of this strong Shield like but ephemeral did he ask you if you wanted to eat at the Met no oh good cuz obviously and Taylor you’re so this this top is it’s wood it’s wood can we knock on you sensal can I do you care if I touch it oh my god I’ve been dying to touch this I is it what it’s kind of rubbery what’s the story behind this look um we had talked about doing a market tree wood sort of thing and this was what we came out with and there was a bunch of different different like renders of designs it could be and there’s all the detailing in the back and they made hair pieces I’ve always wanted to be a tree and tonight that’s what I’m trying to do you’re very on theme both of you and I just wanted to be known right here tonight that I wanted Greta’s hair that you are the epitome told my my mullet and this is my I wanted a mullet tonight I am so into your mullet it’s absurd it’s such a sick mullet and I can from you if you try to see yeah that’s good is there anyone you’re looking forward to meeting tonight meeting well I’m really happy to be here with Taylor actually we is it’s in the round and there’s this kind of pre-show so as you kind of come from 52nd Street you step into this whole world of the VMA Republic and um we had an amazing time in London and we we coming here it’s just the audiences are so electric and there’s a wonderful woman who is coming this evening Gail who’s playing Sally BS who is just mindblowing yes that is just so much fun I just love that you are the kind of actor that can transform and what are you working on that’s like ahead now do you have an end date for Cabaret and you’re already working on the next project no definitely looking for two top secret um I’ve just finished making a television series about the Day of the Jackal which was a kind of a movie back in the day of uh playing an assassin who wears sort now is the amazing Demi Moore and one of my absolute favorite designers and friend Harris Reed and first of all this is like you this is the biggest outfits I’ve seen all night at least back here and demy you look beautiful how how heavy is this dress actually it’s not heavy at all Paris took care of you feel my hips okay oh oh those are those are nice it makes you want to rub them don’t mind if I do then this is so fun Harris can you talk to us about both your look and Dem look I mean it all started with this incredible C necklace that Demi is wearing it’s a new design of theirs and I was super inspired by the floral feeling that it gave me and so the whole piece is made out of vintage archival wallpaper and we repurposed it it’s all 11,000 hours of silk embroidery and then we’ve literally repurposed it into this Victorian idea of basically her blooming on the carpet and covered in these like thorns and I wanted to basically be the vines to her thorns and kind of almost like this Ivy to this gorgeous flower and the perfect moment of Bloom and I was so inspired by this this year’s theme oh so this and this piece is debuting this is a brand new piece from cardier and it’s also a flower that was um called the chlorus which is Greek for the nymph for plant and flowers and it’s like a dandelion that’s blowing in the wind as this dress for me was as the petals were falling off Harris you outdid yourself this isn’t your first met Harris this is my second attending how does it feel now to be going with Demi Moore to the m i I don’t get mad but I think it’s one of my favorite moments of my entire life I mean literally mad it’s okay you’re going more to the med it’s fine you just sent me out of the bus last year but honestly I think just having someone trust me so much and wanting to take a risk like fashion needs to be about risk taking having fun and just like celebrating Beauty and creativity so I think when I was like we’re using wallpaper we’re doing spikes you’re going to be a thorn she was all about it I was like yes let’s do it and Dey I have to say you are such a legend and an icon you have been a strong female role model and a brilliant actress to many of us particularly me for many years I believe that you are working on a new body horror movie called substance with Margaret quy please could you tell us just a little bit about that all I’ll say is so it it is about aging but it is in the category of phantasmagoric and we are in competition at can oh congratulations so that’s where I’ll be going next I can’t wait to see you there I think 40s Chanel coutur another dress from the 50s and another dress from Virgin collection in 2020 with a I don’t know if you remember with the gray and white and black lace okay so it’s a little bit a combination of those three ideas and a few more and yeah it’s like Reawakening for us um AB Sleeping Beauty which is the different versions of this dress absolutely now last year you were a co-chair of the Met gallon this year you get to just come and relax and hang out but I’m not relaxed should I you’re not relaxed right so the stairs right coming up those stairs yeah after that then you can see see Penelope people think that after you do it so much it’s like easy they don’t understand like I don’t think it ever gets easy doing those steps no because you have like silly fears like about the inspiration behind this look uh the JG Ballard short story um which I think some people have ref just in trying to describe the theme which I think has confounded some of us right um so that was really helpful but um working with a hugely talented inspired interesting young designer Richard Quinn was also enormously helpful so he built this it’s sort of like I would describe it almost as trellis um and it’s a piece ofart this is a lace that’s sort of stretched over it like a canvas it’s all hand embroidered and hand stitched and as usual Philip trcy um did my hat I was in London so I got to be with the designers which was really fortunate cuz I was working there for a while and benedetta bretti wow um Bion um Gran Davis and some of your own collection I could just listen to you talk all night I’m just like mesmerized like tell me more tell me more it’s really I always feel very lucky that I can borrow things that are so beautiful and it’s sort of like an alternate universe for a moment went somewhat actually not unlike the theme you’re right you’re right and then they go back and it was a thrill and I get to come with my dear friend this is our seventh seventh this is our seventh seven so Andy after to say yes after seven met balls yes what are you looking forward to tonight well you know what I have to say the moment that I get to walk into Sarah’s dressing room and get a preview of what she’s wearing even though she’s typically just told me about it which is your house but it’s she takes my breath away every year I’m just sitting so I think just being able just the perfect the perfect thing because you know pearls are just made in the most unexpected of ways you never know what beautiful things you’ll find in unexpected places and yeah I can’t hear anything it’s okay not really but we’re okay we’re here I’m like trying so let’s talk Wicked everyone wants to talk Wicked everyone is so excited I know you were filming that for a very very long time so what can you tell us anything that you can tell us I mean h I wish I could say more more than I can you’ll know more soon I will say that you’ll see a little something okay very soon so expect something soon yes but I will say it was just the most extraordinary transformative and beautiful experience I’ve ever had in my life and I love the project so much more now than I ever did and I’ve creativity together come raise money for the costume Institute and um we just had so much fun with the theme I feel like this should be hung up in there like right away and that’s what Tom really wanted is he wanted the um attention to detail to be obvious and for it to be worth a museum I’m just I’m like I don’t even know what to say I’m like trying to find I’m I’m just honored to be in this um shout out to the Tom Brown team absolutely now I’m so proud of you guys and your work and just honored to be in it incredible and you’re always one of the most anticipated arrivals at any Fashion Event and Vogue World Paris is just around the corner it’s coming up June 23rd so tell us about that Vogue World Paris will be um in Paris and a celebration of Fashion sports right before the Summer Olympics um French designers friends of Vogue all coming together to celebrate fashion and some really good performances that you won’t want to miss it’s going to be so fun lot surprises well I hope I heard it the first thing I thought of was something archival and so that’s kind of when I started doing a little bit of research and in my research kind of came across this dress and the chances that they had it available was really Slim and the chances that it fit me were also pretty slim and I couldn’t do any tailoring I couldn’t do anything and it just fit perfectly so again it feels meant to be and so kind of goes with the garden of Time theme and of course now you’ve been to the met quite a few times what are you looking forward to on a night like tonight I just moments like this like I love being I was just talking to Emma who’s also a friend I feel like just seeing friends and people that I love and seeing the beautiful looks I just saw Lana Del re she looks like mind-blowing other and Naomi Watts who’s so joyous and juin just a beautiful person and she really like set the tone on on the set and the mood and was playful and like even though she had 10 pages of dialogue she reinterpreted it and so in in the vein of the Sleeping Beauties and the gowns bringing them back to life this was one of those so I consider it a Sleeping Beauty that’s been brought back to life and it’s my wanted to be able to bring them back to life it’s absolutely stunning it’s Couture or Couture which I love of course it’s so so stunning so on a night like tonight because you’ve been you know and creative but sort of classic at the same time so I wanted to melt those together Dior made this beautiful custom gown I worked with the wonderful Pat McGrath and I worked with her on the as well so yeah absolutely and you also recorded a poem for the exhibition which apparently it just repeats on L I just remembered I did that today and then I thought feel well I don’t know yet nobody really Gardener that uh through slavery time came over from Africa to Wales and became the first black Gardener in in Wales W and so through adversity and through you know really triumphed and uh so that’s really where The Inspirations come from and then inside we found this uh we also got like a here I can hold your mic for you yeah right here is a poem from a guy called um Alex Walton who wrote a poem uh a black poet in um England as well so you brought this to Daniel Le brought to Daniel Lee and his team were incredible so I have to say a big thank you to Daniel and his whole incredible team and this isn’t your first met what number are we on uh I think it’s number five maybe oh yeah not not much as you well no I think a 52 these like that the Thorns here really to show like the the pain through through that slavery trade time you know so w wow I love the I try to get in deep you are deep sotic you are and I’m it’s always wonderful when someone takes the theme so seriously and makes
