    1. I’m a newbie too so I don’t have any advice unfortunately, but what app is that?

Chamios Butter, maybe a bar bag for snacks, two bottles with water, sunglass, sunscreen, and $20(shit happens).

Two bottles with mix, two granola bars, flat kit, credit card and cash. Send it.

Two bottles of water, enough food for about 200 to 300 calories per hour, and a flat repair kit.

I completed a brisk 30-mile ride this past weekend, my first long ride with some decent climbs at moderate effort. At mile 22, I bonked. Never experienced this before, but it was brutal. My power output was nothing. My body wanted to fall asleep while still on the bike.

Only drink I brought was two bottles of Gatorade Zero, which does nothing for endurance. You need “fuel,” meaning carbs/sugar. Gatorade Zero has zero sugar, so it was worthless for endurance. I now plan to set out with 2x bottles, one water or Gatorade Zero, the other Gatorade Endurance, maybe a small bag of jelly beans or energy bar. Don’t underestimate the purpose of snacks on a longer ride.

Candy 🍬, some water and then just enjoy the ride! Stop if you find a nice spot, eat some candy, take a photo and keep going. I personally love the feeling of just going and going some days and other days is just to enjoy.

If you are new your legs will probably start to bonk in the 20s so definitely put some mix/Skratch in one of your bottles. You will need food – I recommend some energy gummies or honey waffles. Start throwing a few gummies/waffles down your neck every 5 miles or so starting at 15 miles. Adjust to your needs obviously. Flat kit. Pack some sodium/cramp tablets with your flat kit as a backup to the skratch. Wear padded shorts/bibs. Cash/card as others have said.

How much fuel you will need depends a lot on you. I would suggest bringing more than you need to start, and with time, you’ll learn what you need, and you can become more efficient with weight. Same with water. Bring more than you need, especially if you will not be in a space that you can resupply.

I started 25-mile rides with bringing a 3L backpack blader filled to about 2.5L and 2-3 high calorie bars (200-300kcal). These rides would take me about 2 hours to complete.

Recently, I’ll bring 22oz of water in a bottle cage in my frame and one, maybe two small snacks that I rarely eat for 30-mile rides, but they take me about 1.5-1.75 hours to complete.

    9. As someone who went from practically nothing to an 80 mile ride.

You got this bro, your body will give you what you need.

I find music or youtube videos makes me focus more on that, than the hardness of the task.

I am no speed demon either, my best is 26 miles at 14 mph after a lot of biking.

My first ride a few years ago I did 6 miles at 8 mph and was exhusted after.

Cycling is great with how quickly you improve at the start.

I usually bring water and a snack.

It is going to take you 3 hours at your speed + what you need for breaks.
