So i've not had a bike in over a decade and all my other bikes have been single speed! just recently got a new Mongoose Fireball 9 speed – This one

wasn't expecting much but from new the whole crank/ / bottom bracket has been manufactured so poorly that the end result is a front chainring is about 2cm out of true, so the drivetrain just feels awful and the chain rubs so badly on the front chain guide, tried a new chainring and removed the whole BB + cranks etc, torqued everything to spec and same result!

was hoping to upgrade to a hollowtech bb and something like these Shimano Deore cranks, I can only seem to find 10 speed stuff though and i'm a bit clueless when it comes to 9/10 Speed cranksets and compatibility issues, was really hoping not to have to buy a whole new derailleur, shifter, chain, cassette etc, just the the cranks + bb

any suggestions or ideas? would massively appreciate any help! thanks!

10spd chains work well with 9spd cassettes and offer a bit better retention on a narrow-wide chainring. I had this setup of 10spd ring and chain combined with 9spd cassette on a previous bike and it was good
