  1. Hey! So i am looking to slap a Sram Force CX1 group on [this Brother Mehteh steel frame](https://www.brothercycles.com/shop/frames/mehteh/) – it’s a ISO threaded BB shell, and the Sram crankset is BB30.

I’ve been googling up and down and found a bunch of various options, it seems maybe this [FSA EVO386 threaded BB](https://www.bike24.com/p230518.html) will fit?

All the various options and unreliable info has me reeling though, so i’d love some input on what to do. Can it be done at all? The ISO thread Brother says the BB shell has is the same as BSA threaded, right? Should i measure the spindle length before i pull the trigger? The crank in questions is specifically [this one](https://www.sram.com/en/sram/models/fc-frc-1-a1) and has previously been mounted on a PF30 BB. It seems Sram lists the crank as compatible with BB386, and FSA says that BB386 will fit in a threaded BB… I’m just uncertain and don’t wanna mess with orders, wrong fittings and returns.

Would love to hear some reliable info from you guys. Thanks!

A BB30 crankset will **not** fit an ISO (BSA) bottom bracket shell. BB30 is designed for a 68 mm wide shell with pressed in bearings, so external bearings on an ISO shell would be too wide for the spindle.

    Edit:

If there is a BB386 Evo version of the cranks, then this will fit with an external 30mm BB, as the spindle is longer.

you have a standard bsa shell with 68 mm width, at least that’s what the website states. the shell width is what you’re interested in. if you have doubts, measure that part. you either have 68mm (99%) or 73mm, no way you can mess that up. the crankset has a 30 mm (diameter) spindle – they will be compatible, just make sure you order the bsa threaded bb.

  4. No, it generally will not work because the spindle length is too short. The bb for bb30 is internal and the crank sits almost against the frame. The spindle on bsa cranks that use outboard cup bsa BBS need to be long enough to clear the outboard bb.

With that said, if the spindle on you cranks is longer than 104mm you can use a product like this to install them:

RTFM. (Read the fucking manual) For this bottom bracket, they will tell you whether or not it will work for your cranks.
