I'm considering upgrading to di2 and deciding whether external or internal battery is better. However I'm not sure whether my bike is able to take external battery because of how far down the bottle cage bolts are. The one I'm interested in is the battery that would go under the cage, hidden behind the down tube. I'm not interested in the ones that bolt to the side of the cages.

I guess I could just use bottle cage extender..
but i do have a separate question. how likely is it for water to penetrate into the electrode on the external battery? I’m talking about gravel/cx riding in the rain/mud, and washing the bike with a water jet.
