Assuming it’s significantly cheaper – steel. Even if they’re the same price I might still choose steel. Carbon is great if performance is your primary concern. If durability is important, steel wins out. I’ve never owned a carbon bicycle, but I’m significantly biased toward steel given my negative experiences with aluminum.
