the Dream Team we’ve got we’ve got David that thinks we should set it up just between the four of us every week and I’ve done so we’ll dump our two you you DP p and p we’ll dump Craig and Josh and we cracked it jobs are of England together I don’t know I don’t so in this particular away and show we’ll discuss the playoff semi-final current form current form who to watch out for who’s most likely to go down in the Box for this particular match we’ll ask we’ll ask why Colin and Chris support Bolton and question a lot more than that so let’s get all over it Chris Colin welcome tell us about your podcast go on Chris where do we start well you know what that at the very beginning that’s what do we’re a baby aren’t we well strangely enough our first ever podcast which was a pilot was the FA Cup game against barnesley W and the score was Bolton nil Barnsley 2 if I see if I remember rightly um and it was in October 22 so it’s about right you’re looking like I’ve got me dates wrong is that that’s that’s right that a it I can’t remember yeah yeah because we we wore our um cenery shirt W cener shirt with the laces up yeah so it was myself and Young B um and we did a pilot show in October of 20 yeah 2022 so we’re about what does that make us then about 18 month old so like Cole said we’re we’re still a baby but it’s um yeah it’s gone from strength to strength we’ve had various players from you know from the current crop um super John McGinley from Days Gone By I Wilbraham Aaron Wilbraham good player Elias kachunga yeah we J Williams are you working him Colin oober I thought we played John bunfire night 5th of November first round at FA Cup we’re at 5th of November well there you go then thank you very much I knew you got it right you were looking at me like you got that wrong Chris yeah that were it so so even younger by a week or so so yeah but yeah it’s gone from strength to strength um just enjoy doing it just love doing it you know even when times are bad it’s like a car crash into it more people come on when it’s going wrong and they want to comment so uh but no it’s been going really really well so uh yeah we we we we’re we’re pleasantly surprised aren’t we Chris really with with how well well it’s it’s gone in certainly in recent months I think last couple of months it seems to have skyrocketed unbelievable um just the live view obviously all our if people don’t know all our episodes are done live um both preview and review and and everything else in between and um yeah we tend to get around two around 200 people watching live generally there there abouts yeah which is quite astonishing number when you think about it like if you think about 200 people in a room it’s like wow okay yeah cuz it like you say last couple of months it’s got to that prior to that it was more like 30 40 50 and it just said like that so you see him as Lads you got a good mix we’ve got Tracy and Jane and you’ve got an so it’s a good yeah yeah we we’ve we’ve acquired um another Ben as well we’ve got two Benz um obviously them two Lads are obviously the youthful and more probably you might say more enthusiastic you could say of us all and then obviously you got obviously myself and and Chris yes we we tried to grow it the team a little bit because we’re mindful of the fact that next season’s fixtures are going to be a little bit Here There and Everywhere with the new Sky deal and stuff and we’re trying to kind of plan ahead for that um but we we’re very well except me I think but we’re very particular on who we uh who who we who we’ve appointed I think with regards to the podcast and that’s what Chris that’s what Chris said before you before you join this can’t have too many Rogues can you I think I’m probably the only one that’s that’s allowed to be that you don’t need can do you yeah exactly yeah not too many never mind right tell us tell us about your current form Le into these playoffs yeah for both we’ll tell your ours if you want yeah I mean form wise I mean what I would say is I’m not too sure whether it really matters which I think is probably going to be music to to your lad’s ears given your current state of affairs because literally is just a little cup competition in it I think that’s kind of the way you got to look at it um but if we are looking at form I think we are the most in form maybe out of the no actually I think it’s probably is it Oxford who’s probably just piters to the the amount of points that they’ve equated in in recent weeks but we’ve not lost since the Derby game and poor on my dates but which what 12 games is it one in 12 we’ve lost yeah one game in in 12 there’s been a quite a few draws in that jent but um a good number of wins as well which is um which is positive um we we’ve not actually played that well which is which might seem a little bit of a strange thing to say considering we haven’t lost in 12 games but yeah we’ve not played that well which I think I think is a good thing from our perspective because if you flashes haven’t we we’ve had flashes Oxford 5 nil and then 52 against readin being the probably the where we we’ve shown the best form no but other than that you’re right it would not been that great have we really which is a SC which is a scary thought really is it really last last time we W when was that that last time we won when was El he keep fading out sorry Easter Monday Easter Monday yeah we’ve been shocking shocking we’ve cleared I form as you both knows not has not been particularly good we drew it home to reading when we played reasonably well but then messed up um well we pulled pulled it pulled it back after going 2-1 down we played really well at Portsmith um and we thought we were going to win thought we were on for 2-1 because they didn’t look like they were threatening us and then we um pressed the self-destruct button and gave away death penalty and um although we still argue about whether it were a penalty but you know it was cuz he get it and then conceded a you know a very very late goal from ahead well to against B didn’t it same thing happened that’s when it what it around about then when it seemed to sort of turn around a little bit that very simply it’s your fault your fault yeah I thought it I I don’t honestly I I swear I swear my little boy’s life when I was walking out of Orwell that night I said I did I said to myself that could proper derail bar of that because and and it has done on it um because you you you simply can’t be two n up um and then con see two goals in the manner that he did and and not expect it not to really um so sorry sorry about that I mean we’ve all we’ve both ended up in the same spot anyway it doesn’t really matter too much is it does it but we were amazed we were amazed honestly Colin we were amazed because we were so many points like you so many points clear in the playoffs uh you know were a done deal and we have just dropped and managed managed to scrape through um just managed so quite alarming an alarming thing Andy what what I’m just picks up on what you’ve just said there you mentioned I think two or three games and you you on on on each of the occasion you said that you played well but you you still lost lost yeah so that that’s that that that’s obviously be a massive concern for you really I mean that was huge I just I got to admit from the outside looking in and I know that that Collins wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea and I’m sure we’ll get into it later in the podcast but from the outside looking I I simply don’t see the logic in in getting rid of you your manager saw saw L on in the season uh it seems a bit of a ludicrous thing to do from from certainly from the outside looking in anyway there’s also nobody knows nobody knows I mean at your place half time we should have been 40 up if you’re honest all over that first half and then you met substitution and you got equalizer so I mean they’re going on about Collins and he didn’t know you didn’t like his style of play but that first 45 at uh du sheet Stadium we could we could have been out of heght the problem is Al we’re all you’ve said throughout this season we’ve got 45 minutes in us but not 90 minutes and that’s that that’s the bit where it’s fail we we I don’t see I think most we’ve seen when we played had minutes in his locker but we Haden put to good 45 minutes together all season and that’s downfall ironically some of our best footballs be against Bolton this season it’s been against the the contenders hasn’t it you it has in the second half of the season in the first half of the Season we couldn’t do anything against the teams that were up at the top we as all um but the second we’ve done a lot lot better so who knows who knows I think Colin’s got it right it’s well Ian called it in our instant reaction last week he call it’s a one-off game well it’s two two one-off games it’s a shame it’s a shame it does it does his best Chris it does his best I know I know it’s it’s a bit of a uh it’s a different cattle fish in it from last season I think in terms of the two teams like not not just because of where we finished in the in the table but I I I do think that having that home leg seconds is definitely of benefit to the team you know the the team in question because I think that that’s what got you over the line last last season against us I think in the in the playoffs that aren’t it we were third were you six last season it’s switched around hasn’t it I think playing the second leg as well or well certainly us playing the home leg with an evening kickoff makes a big difference to me Co I I had thought about it until a little bit earlier and I was talking to to Nappers doing a bit with him on one of his pods um and we seem to I don’t know whether it’s psychological but evening games for the rebok Under The Lights of a big crowd yeah it’s a big thing I think I think that’s the same for every team in it really everybody goes on about Under The Lights Under like that and it’s it’s massive is it yeah you know it’s huge like that’s like I said before that’s what I think that’s what got ban over the line last season against us because they were the the the crowd at Orwell last season was were fantastic for him give them that extra little bit of a a push to get them over the line didn’t it and you know you could say the same thing about Sheffield Wednesday against against Peter bro when when they turned it round you know it’s the same script is it so yeah we’ll have to wait and see it’s a bit of it’s a bit of a cup competition isn’t it like I said of course it is I think I think we know I think I think we know where I’m going to ask you but just tell us just tell us and scare is all to death which players do you think we should watch out for who’s going to make a difference to you who do who do you think will make the difference you know for both games no no I’ll start if you like Chris give you a little bit of a thinking time um Paris MCG I think he’ll be the the key the key to us um and I watch your your show yesterday and I noticed that you picked out Kyle Dempsey who is a fantastic midfielder at this level and I think he gets in a lot of the teams you know a lot of the teams starting 11s across the whole division um but he he’s been kept out the side by Paris this season um which I think tells its own story um Paris is a a level a level at least above League one um and he he’s just very very difficult to to to to to play against he’s uh can go either way he’s obviously very skillful he can drive well he drives well with the ball he can find a killer pass he he can also get in in behind the the strikes as well and get a shot off and he scored a few goals this season so he’s just a very you can just tell like you know when you’re watching a player you just know he’s above the level and and he certainly falls into that category um so yeah I think Paris MCA for me will be the one that you have to you have to keep well you know I mentioned him I mentioned him last night as well col he’s Fant he’s a fantastic football get Jones ah get Jones yeah used to be used to be Wheels getting regular start start for you say that again say that again sorry Al Jones X red yeah I know yeah yeah he took some pelters after his performance against Peter bra he’s uh he’s a bit of a steady Eddie and Chris he’s never like 9 10 yes eight n out of 10 he’s usually around consistent pry around the seven seven out of 10 Mark and he’s Vice Captain he’s got a a very very level head he just seems to bring level of stability to the team um I think for me I think one of the other Lads that you mentioned on on you pod last night was was Josh Ian yeah um our player of the season um his Improvement obviously he was he was out long-term injury um his Improvement since he came back has been been phenomenal um so I think he make a big difference but I think for me the one can we pause no keep going you all right I’ve got I’ve got me D whimpering down here oh Hey listen there’s times if you watched our show last night you have seen Josh’s cat walk across yeah what you might not have seen is that I’m holding he not I’m holding my C from coming on the screen don’t worry Chris I tell you what you know about it me dog walks across me desk I tell you he’s massive he’s about 45 kilos this fell go on we get some water go on it it has to the rich tapestry of Life Chris he he he’s actually sat in the doorway now just to be awkward so I can’t shut my door night Jos black cat were walking over while he were talking if I know I saw it I saw it Andy got mix an appearance so oh it does it does but I think for me talk to animals um I think for me Aaron Collins is the big one um I think he’s made it a phenomenal difference since he came in obviously big numbers above his head and whatnot but he’s been not only for his goal scoring output but obviously I mean his first touch you’ll remember was his was his cross yeah for our equalizer against men at home um is input straight away with that cross didn’t yeah yeah the thing the thing is with Aaron Collins as well jent and everybody who’s who’s listening and watching this he’s made an impact in in a rather quick period of time a lot quicker than a lot of Bolton fans and I think even even Ian Everton the manag management team at the club expected I think he was a signing um for the future yeah you know the CL the not too distant future shall we say not not not the longterm future of course but I think he’s just he’s surprised as how well he’s fit in and how much of an impact he’s making on games so soon and and I guess he’s had to I think you guys paid yeah you guys paid reference to Dion not scoring in in a couple of months last night on your we talk D honestly Chris Cole we talked da what do we know we knew he were injured but we still not been playing yeah well that’s it yeah deon’s not scoring because because he’s been injured but for two months in your defense Andy you know prior to he he he he hadn’t been scoring he he went through a real glut um by every for every forward does though don’t they I think you know especially especially at this level I think we often forget certainly Bolton fans I’m I can’t speak for barsy fans but we often forget the level that we’re currently at you know I think we expect a little bit too much from some of the players that we have at our disp when when you strip it back they are you know at the best mid-table to lower Championship players and you know the most part top end League one so you got to have a little bit of perspective don’t you um but going back to Aaron Collins and Chris’s point he’s had to step up um and he he’s done a really good job and and then the fact that we’ve got Dion having now had minutes over the last two or three games and he scored at the weekend as well albe it a penalty that’s Obviously good as well for us because you know a flying on Charles is pretty Unstoppable at this level um yeah so it’s exciting agree with playing our is he back up is he back up to speed or he’s showing GL he’s showing glimpses yeah I think obviously when for a center forward especially uh more so than any position you need a little bit of uh a bit of time don’t you on the pitch to kind of find your sharp your match sharpness um he obviously scored the penalty of the weekend I know Nathan B like 3 on Saturday but I’ve I’ve been watching been decent in he Nathan B has been been fantastic yeah I think we we miss he’s been missing for a couple of months as well and I I not just saying this uh but I do genuinely think if he would have been playing the last couple of months we we would have we would have got that second place because we wouldn’t have lost them Five Points to that we did to Derby over that over that two two and two and a half month period um goalkeeper is the most important position on the pitch by by by country mile in my opinion and theop off from Nathan baxer to our backup goalkeeper was was rather large and he and he did he won us a few he he played quite well in Parts but but he lost us a few points as well didn’t he Chris over that over that two and a half month period unfortunately he did yeah it was H yeah it was a big blow to us losing him I think you you got to look at it from the point of view that whose gloves he were filling obviously we had James traford he went on to obviously massive things in the Premier League some not brilliant but Trafford was brilliant for us last season so for Bon to come in and take over from tra was a was huge and he did a fantastic job so to lose him Ironically in a game against barnesley was um yeah it was a big blow and the drop off as Cole said was massive it cost us that jent that’s the Reas you know you were saying before Andy about gutted that we didn’t get in that automatic that that’s that I do genuinely think that’s the reason why we didn’t well that’s well going ask you you know you’ve got you’ve got Dion Charles you’ve got Moma Kyle Dempsey for me you’ve got um Ricardo at the back Santos at the back she and pulling all the strings how the hell did you let them flipping beat you to the seconds what’s wrong with your team just tell us the weaknesses there’s got to be a weakness if you’re going to let you’re GNA let old men of Derby get I mean ram Ram’s beating trctor I can what’s going on what going on with that I think it’s up here I think it’s a mentality thing um you know I always I always think about Paul war and it’s obviously it’s not a derby podcast but I was thinking about Paul one I always thinking about Rotherham and how they used to grind out results and they’ll win one nil they’ll win one nil they’ll win one nil we’ll go 40 win two all draw one nil loss and it goes in these little cycles that the consistencies and there the mentality isn’t there I think it started to shift a little bit and I’m hoping I’m right um that they are becoming stronger in the head um I think Saturday was a big one for me I don’t know what you think Co obviously beating Peter BR with two-nil and then getting pegged back and then losing 3-2 but then to come back and draw as we as a result it was and it was a very very much a last game of the season job that that showed a bit of a shift for me in terms of mentality and Cameron Jerome has really helped with that he’s on field he’s an onfield coach in he essentially he plays he plays B bur Min bare minimum of minutes but he he makes an impact um vocally and and tactically I think a lot of the time coming yeah he been he’s been a big he’s been a Difference Maker in that respect and I think that that has really helped that mind mindset shift if you will um but that’s what’s in answer to your question Andy that for me has been the thing that’s held us back just the capabil is there and the talent is there and the players are there but it it’s holding it together just to expand on that a little bit and I was gonna I was gonna say exactly what what Chris said as well um but the reason the difference between us and us and Derby is everything that Chris has just said but also experience and Chris lent on that a little bit with when it comes to Cameron jome but if you look at Darby’s team not only the management as well with Paul War but if you look throughout their team you you know you Conor Connor hurand and so forth they’ve played at a higher level and they know what’s expected of them uh you know menes langas and other players of that of that ilk um they’re obviously the the the north side of 30 but we haven’t really got that um that no um and they they for it don’t they you know the wage bills obviously a lot higher than ours and that’s why you know they’ve been able to probably get promoted because they’ve got more experienced players and players who can grind out results like Chris said you’ve got better players though on paper yeah but we all know that we’ve all been watching football long enough between the four of us and we know that that that it’s not played on paper is it and well interested Chris said you know a bit of a a mentality thing you know against her you’ve not beaten us youve not beaten us we’ve done you a couple of times exactly just maybe we know that we’ve not been playing really well I’m clutching at straws Chris I appreciate this I’m clutching at straws but picture this you’ve not beaten us last year sorted you out I know it were you know the ties were the other way around homeing away but the mentality do you think you do you you might think we can beat you can beat us Cole probably thinks he going to beat us do the players does hean ever do the players think or is it it back of the Reds they did last year they did Us in the in the fa C they did Us in the playoffs we played them so play K like he did last year is it is it gonna be a repe is it going to be revenge or is it g to be a repeat it’s got to be back in your mind a it you’d be you know you’d be shortsighted to just completely you know put it in a in a box and park it it’s got to be there an it come on let’s be realistic however back our minds GIS honestly I know but however it’s you use it do you use it as a means of grinding you down or do you use it as a as an incentive mtiv for Revenge um and I think it I think it’s very very much the left so I don’t know I I I can see something different in this team and as I say it might come back and bite me like the th done comment and what or whatever but it’s um I just see I just see a different mentality um and that that fragility seems to have have been tempered a little bit now the proof the proof will be in the pudding on Friday obviously I think if we come out of Friday with a positive result then yeah then yeah that that because I I just we just yeah we’re very good at home you see so that’s the thing and like I said before having that that home fix your second is massive for the for the team in question well I’m going to bring some tissues with me on on Friday night and you know I hope I don’t think it’s Latin but I hope that I can lend them to you yeah well yeah let’s be honest you’ve got you’ve got some good players and you got players that can that can hurt us you know so anything anything can happen in football can’t it you know I wouldn’t would we going to work well on on Friday as a Bley fan you know thinking thinking that the game’s over it’s not by any stretch you know you’ve got every chance of of turning us over and if you can take a victory to our place then you know quids in aren you think be 5il Victory I thinking that our players have something to prove of course last month they’re not as bad as what they’ve been playing and I think I think they’ve got to come out and believe in themselves and their own ability I think the problem you you’ve got again from what I’ve seen and I have tried to watch recent highlights it’s that Midfield arguably the best Midfield in the league you tell barnes’s Midfield arguably the best Midfield in the league in terms of kind of the you know the overall structure and what that Midfield offers both offensively and defensively obviously Devante Cole not scoring uh in in recent weeks has not helped you at all and he’s not even being injured we can’t even done injur can’t even use that what I was gonna say is the key to it for me is is your defense it just look weak like without that that American L you signs Hines who I think was just finding his feet a little bit and looking looking pretty tidy at this level losing him is is huge I think for you and that’s that’s where I think three games though end of he he did but so know he scored two goals in that time no yeah but I’m what I’m getting at sorry Al what I’m getting at is he was obviously signed for a reason weren’t he yeah you’re you’re absolutely right Colin we knew we knew leading up to the transfer window in January that we were struggling in defense we all know we were conceding early goals conceding late goals all that so we brought to him brought Josh erling who started brilliantly and he’s he he he’s making a a few mistakes but he’s a he’s a good player he’s a good player the level yeah absolutely bring do bring Dominic in uh Donovan we call him Dominic Donovan Pines in blame me that Andy no I know I know we keep we keep getting his name wrong well money money at this level money be it on wages or be it on on on actual transfers money at this level is tight in it so if you if you’re investing money in in two defenders in January that says everything you need to know where you were at prior to January basically and the same for us with with Aaron Collins I think you could say the same in that respect biggest transfer in a long time yeah I think on Dion I believe you’ve not you’ve not mentioned big Vic believe he’s been injured as well he’s been injured as well he’s back he’s been on the periphery the last few weeks he’s not even been on the bench but he’s been training again and I believe he’s available this weekend you probably you’ll probably get see him on the bench it’s been out has been out for about six six to eight weeks Chris eight week now yeah yeah we missed him he’s been quality we just know he’s going to come on and score winner right at the end we just just know it it’s you know it’s it’s written in the stars either that or Luca Connell will one or other bless him I’m not going to say anything about luuka Connell because I say I say I say enough on Twitter and I don’t want to get myself in trouble set that r a new contract he’s still under contract he’s coming on just like footb just like the football this summer it’s coming on any you were saying yesterday about ever coming to you oh it’s nailed on did you know I’m sorry I’m sorry to break it to you oh I’m sorry to break it to you I I love Ian ever I love the way he squared up to Michael dufford squared up to Connell oh I the only thing I worry about Ian ever I remember him so well because you know Chesterfield’s not just down the road where I live uh it were an outstanding tough hard Center half a really really lik it I didn’t I didn’t well I didn’t know if he’d make it as a as a manager or Co but he’s done he’s done a tremendous job he’s been brilliant yeah he certainly doesn’t set us up in in the way that he used to play no no we know the Twitter artist say we know they all say he’s he’s going to be if he don’t do it he’s going to be sacked and all that so just played on that he’s going to come to us you can see it can’t you Tuesday night we beat you Tuesday next Tuesday night you sack him Wednesday he comes to us so he still up he gets his Wembley dream I think if you’ve not got I think if you’ve not got a manager by next Tuesday and yeah that’ll be pretty miraculous I think you you have to you have to look at app pointing somebody in the next couple of days surely where here knows who knows teams here who knows you can’t every so many people were clamoring for Neil Collins to be sacked sack him now sack him now and as soon as as soon as the board did why have you sacked him with one game to you think you can’t you know what it’s like on on Twitter and elsewhere you can’t can’t make it up but no I I I don’t actually think I don’t know I don’t know I would love us to we’re not going to but I would love us to sign somebody like Richie Wellens or I like Grant McAn who’s an ex player of ours at night oh yeah um playoffs as well you it’s some barely plays for our under 18s yeah barely so I’ve always liked Grant mccan as a player as well as a manager so well you know they’re in playoffs I I you never know call but personally I can’t see you watch get get ready to I I’ll save this clip we’ll not sign it we’ll not sign a coach by the by the playoffs you what and then I can play it back and say what a fool I was that I think even even if you did is is there enough time for the the manager to implement his style and and get to know his players and the way they play the only reason the only way that’ll work for you is if you brought back Milad from last season yeah can’t see as interim at moment he said he were going to in his press conference the shackles were going to be off there were no Jason shackles off on Saturday Andy they were much of muchness so that the players are gave up to play a certain style that’s why I mentioning do you know we’ll see we’ll see but yeah it it could have happened the only thing the only thing you can do is to get Kevin ke style in little you know Tu thumping and say you know get at him get under him and all that any idea of what it means at all you know just get just get under him get Neil warin for three games ah another ex player he always whenever we lose a manager he comes up not play AR we Andy this is the this is the sorrow of been so old Chris honestly you know which version of Wembley it was to yeah the proper Wembley so it was in 1986 and it was the what what was then was it the freight Rover or the sherper van but obviously what is now the Bristol Street Motors and we lost 3-0 to Bristol City so it wasn’t the most successful away days but obviously it’s one that you never forget because it’s under the twin tows and it it’s a special day when lose draw whatever so yeah that was my first away game can you still feel the pain though Chris you know what you know what I can a little bit Yeah cuz it was disappointing obviously there was a lot of lot of buildup to it you go into emble buildup for a big day and all that and then to get a good slapping off Bristol City yeah it wasn’t pleasant it’s certainly not a memory that uh that you want to take with you I think to play W it Andy we were the the last it was the last Club match at the old wemble when we was it lost lost to ipswitch Colin now obviously Chris is a fairweather fan that his first away matches at Wembley Glory out right it didn’t work out right for him well what were your offer can you remember your first one excluding trips to Wembley because I think I’ll move away from that because you know Chris has done that bit but mine was um prenton Park uh which was obviously tram’s grounds um in the year 2000s ironically Al um we played um in the League Cup semi-final um two-legged ofur we lost 3-0 at pron Park um yeah that was a a pretty horrific I was a back in 2000 I think I was R I think of 12 year old something like that um yeah so that was F quite famous in in in many Bolton fans memories and probably tram as well because I think Sam allise who was a manager at the time um he basically told the players not to bother get in a shower and jump on the coach and bger off and yeah he had a bit of running with um John Aldridge yeah yeah then so yeah very very young back then of course uh and and shortly after that I think the one after that would have been I think it was a Premier League game in 2001 D at Upton Park when Michael Ricket scored late on and we beat them one nil or something like that at West Ham so yeah yeah so what’s that 20 24 years ago now the old boiling ground then at West Ham yeah one of my favorite away games that actually I’ve went to Upton park lots of times over the over the years and seen us win a few times seen us lose a few times but yeah that’s definitely up there with one of my favorite away gate grounds as well as Villa Park I think be up there in hyb as well well not not FL not nap as his hybrid the the original one we saw we saw you sneak well coling we’re talk we saw you sneaking Chris to shut the door when this be the dog we saw you you whimpering bless him right that work call him whimpering we’ll come to your second question so I’m going to put the little ones on the little scamps on yet again to ask you their second question why don’t you support a good team like man city or Liverpool are best of them all barley you want me to an first yeah well I mean you’re from Bolton you support Bolton simple as that I mean what I would say is is in an area like Bolton which I actually don’t live in anymore um but you have um quite a few teams to choose from because obviously there quite a lot of teams in a very very short short area small area should I say but yeah I think you don’t really have have much as a choice don’t get me wrong as a kid I I you know Newcastle shirts Liverpool shirts uh all bits and pieces but you know why Colin why why would you do that why would yeah well the Liverpool one was I was obsessed with Robbie fower as a kid like I I I was Center forward as a young kid and I I just couldn’t get over how he scored so many goals so I had a fower and I had Newcastle [ __ ] with Shira and uh um Bolton [ __ ] with John McGinley there’s a theme Here goal scorers aren’t there um and obviously then you know from with Bolton obviously being from Bol but my dad used to play for the wandas as well as in the youth setup and there’s a bit of a back story with my family when it comes to wers as well what me me me great great great great uncle Bert Cole was a scout for Bal wers and he scouted he scouted the the late great that loft house um burnd Park yeah so my uncle was my great great uncle my dad’s uncle was a scout um and he he he scouted n lofos so there’s a bit of a story with with that like Bert Cole is in that lofto his book um and if for the Bary fans we don’t know Nat lto is England one of England’s greatest ever goal scorer he scored 30 goals in in 33 appearances I think but he um he basically long story short he asked my my my great great uncle um but to buy him a push bike if he scored a hattick on his Bolton debut and he did he scored three on his bolon debut as an 18y old so my uncle my my dad’s great uncle ber had to buy him a push bike uh as a as a as a bet if you will um and it’s in his book not not LOF out his book that um you can go and check it out if you wish to do so it’s a true story which is quite mad if you think about it like with the way the 18y old footballers are the these days when it comes to playing at that level which he he was at at the time for us in the in in the in the 50s we were winning fa cups and all sorts he was effectively a premier league an 18y old Premier League footballer and he wanted to push bike um as a as as a as a as a as a well done or whatever it might be just so we can get to just so we can get to and from training and and the cor mines as well which he worked on at the time as an 18y old so that’s incred story true story Tommy Taylor read he went to man united didn’t he and lost his life at Munich disaster so he’d be an England you know Striker win at win at yeah yeah would have been yeah it would have been uh but yeah that’s that’s that’s that’s a story that’s me on my dad on my dad’s side that so the the Bol obviously Bolt And even though like I said Rangers shirts Liverpool shirts Rangers as well now it’s getting worse all sorts I was I was very I had a very privileged upbring and I could basically I got whatever I wanted so if I wanted uh uh Les thir down sh yeah yeah I can’t fair weather fair weather I thought I think it all changed around 1995 uh reading playoff final and Liverpool in the League Cup Final as well I think it all changed from he told me that for the for the um for The Barley fans listening of course with which I’m sure there’ll be many the the geography of this makes sense from Chris’s perspective because Bolton as a town obviously he quite a large town from from the top going towards you know Blackburn and and and and and and Preston way straight down to the bottom going towards of course Manchester and before that is Barry and of course yeah that is worth where Chris is his lad grew up so very very for people whose geography isn’t on point it’s very very very close to to Manchester even more so than Bolton so you I stand corrected with this but I’m pretty sure that when we were formed in what was it 18 5 no 1874 57 84 1874 sorry we we had a red and white uh kit with like red blobs on it back then might be wrong with that but you can check it that was when we were Christ Church prior to being Bolton wasn’t it because it was 18 pretty sure there was more of a prominent read in in the home kit when we were first formed in in in 1877 well just just think this Cole it could have been worse it could be a red shirt with stars on it always always have been that iconic going what is going on there with
