Nice loop starting in Lyle, Wa, heading up onto the plateau west of Klickitat. Paralleling the river for the first part with nice views of Mt. Hood and peak wildflowers during the long climb. After the climb, we headed further northwest for some great views of Mt Adams before turning back south for the return to Lyle. The climbing was never too steep, and the weather was perfect.
There’re a few miles of jeep trail, and a few miles of legit dirt (not gravel) riding that I think would be pretty awful if wet, so it might be best to give the route a day or two to dry off after rain. As far as tires, 40s would be fine, but 45+ would be more comfortable…the dirt road was pretty bumpy. There’s also a creek for water refill at mile 21, but that may dry up by mid-summer. It was flowing fine when we rode.
