I bought this bike a year ago when I was looking for a cheap $100 *bar bike*. I was looking on Facebook Marketplace and started seeing some bikes I thought were pretty cool but more expensive. I ended up buying my bike for $350. It’s my first road bike. I still don’t have a bar bike. I love this bike enough that the idea of leaving it outside (even with a lock) makes me nervous lol.
I’m no bike expert, but from what I’ve read online, the Giant Cadex 980c was the first mass produced carbon fiber road bike. I *think* mine is a 1991.
**What I’ve done to it:**
* Added a second bottle cage.
* Had the brake cables and housing and bar tape replaced when it got gummed up.
* New seatpost (Ritchey WCS 1-Bolt). The original seatpost is crazy short, and I needed it to be about an inch beyond the max line for my height. And yes, I’m still hanging on to the original.

I got my at the time GF a Giant Cadex CFR1 in the mid 90s. I think the 980c was its predecessor.
