Hate to be that guy, but considering this bike as a base for a new project. Thinking of turning it into a fun bike for overnight local tours.
What do you guys think? I’m not really familiar with the Dawes brand, but hoping this could be nice. Appreciate your thoughts.

Are you thinking drop bar? Because this would actually be a perfect candidate judging by the top tube length.
Dawes is a pretty world-renowned maker of touring bikes. The Dawes Galaxy was a standard in the long-distance touring scene for a few decades, particularly in the UK. IIRC, Dawes used Reynolds 531 tube sets for most years, I think 753 and 853 for some of the later models in the 90s/00s. UK Dawes are quite rare where I live; they weren’t widely sold in the US, but I do find them for sale occasionally, usually not very close by. There’s also a Canadian Dawes company that I’m not sure of the relation to the original, but those are much more commonly found in my area, usually MTBs or road bikes.
This looks like a real-deal rig to me; get yourself some panniers and go. It also seems to have a nice quality bottle generator already, so it’s already far ahead of most setups around here.
That looks like a decent bike for a taller rider with a bunch of extras that would tempt me. I can’t tell you anything about this model, but Dawes are probably best known for their tourers and kept making sensible bikes in the UK long after it was “cool” to do so. If it fits and the price is right, you could do a lot worse
