Hey Yall! I recently bought this 2018 Fitbike Long for 60 bucks! It’s full chromoly and I think I did pretty good. I ride dirtbikes and I saw a lot of people from the dirtbike scene on BMX bikes so I figured I’d give it a try. I put some newer parts on it and tore it all down and replaced lots of bolts and the BB bearings. But I have a buzzing noise coming from my wheels when I drop test it, it seems to get worse the more I ride. Could this be from loose spokes? Possible hubs? I took the rear hub apart and the bearings looked great. The wheels aren’t perfectly true but they aren’t too bad.

Spokes don’t usually having a buzzing noice of loose, they “ping” really. But being it’s a used bike they’re likely to have loosened over time anyway, so easiest thing, tighten every spoke a quarter of a turn, no need to get carried away as most do when truing and tightening spokes. If they easily do that, then it maybe worth repeating again, this way you shouldn’t make the wheel untrue as each spoke will be tightened the same amount
When I drop test my bike, my fuckin pedals cause a weird resonant buzz that pisses me off, because otherwise my bikes sound like basketballs when I bounce em 😀
Uneven spoke tension will cause a flat land to distribute the force across the wheel and the buzz would be metal that is loose vibrating I suppose. Shitty rims are my guess, esp if they are still the stock ones.
I love the bike tho man, my first proper bike was a Fit and my new frame is a Fit too.
When we say buzzing we aren’t talking about hub engagement are we? Some cassettes buzz pretty loud when rolling and the faster you go the louder it can get.
Edit: if it’s coming from font then nvm. Could be you have a soda can stuck in the forks….
