  1. I wanted to share the trip that my partner and I did in 2022 from France to Ireland.

We took full advantage of the Brompton’s
abilities by putting them in a train from Paris to Normandy, in a ferryboat, in various
trains and buses in Ireland, cycling nearly 700km along the west coast after
stopping in Dublin and Galway, before sailing back to France.

We encountered several other people travelling
by bike but sadly none of them had folding bikes! We mainly use our
Brompton to commute in Paris, but these bikes can handle more than you would think, and travelling with them is surprisingly pleasant and easy. The main upside is how easy to hop on a bus or any other mean of transportation, which we did twice to avoid busy roads. However, cycling uphill wasn’t as easy, especially with all our luggage.

A big thank to all the other redditors who shared their adventures here, which was a big inspiration to undertake this trip!

Looks great and you got lucky with the weather. The west coast can be brutal, even in summer
