  1. That was a very enjoyable little trip out to the Bluebell Woods guys… It looked a little bit chilly though… As we could see mostly grey cloudy skies on your journey there that day… There are places dotted around the UK that have a mixture of Countryside Walks and Activities for everyone… Anything from… Rock Climbing… Canoeing… Fishing… Sailing… Cycle Hire… Motor Boating… Water Skiing… Abseiling… As well as having… Interactive Learning Experience Centres… Cafe's & Restaurants… Gift Shops… Refreshment Shops… Camping & Caravanning Sites… Sculpture Parks… Children's Playground… Animal Petting Farms… Natural Wildlife Spotting… etc… There's a very beautiful place that's very much like this… Which is quite close to where i live… It's called Carsington Water… And it's situated in the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District Countryside… It's a stunning place to visit… With ample parking too… It's all on the site of a local Reservoir… And the entire complex was officially opened in 1992 by Her Majesty The Queen… You really can spend all day there… As there's so much to see and do… If you ever get the opportunity to visit here for yourselves guys… It'll be well worth you visiting for the entire day… As you'll never see and do everything you're wanting to… In just a few hours… You really need to spend the whole day there… Just to maximize your experience when you're visiting… You can take yourselves a picnic if you like… Or you can take full advantage of the eateries on site to grab yourselves some hot food instead… If i can… I'll put a couple of links to videos of Carsington Water… Just so you can see what you can expect to see and do on your own visit there… All the very best… Cheers guys. 🍺 Video number one… ———-> https://youtu.be/erBLYDaS4SM?si=aoNEGQ4–nzHCeiq Video number two… ———-> https://youtu.be/kriHIqshLH0?si=6d2j0melOsomHRPH

  2. Im so glad you got to a bluebell wood at the right time. In gardens you often see the Spanish Bluebell, which is not quite the same, having a shorter, wider bell. Our true native Bluebell (Endymion non-scripta?) is only found in the British/Irish Isles and nearby coasts of the Continent; it has a narrower bell and is truly glorious when in quantity.
In Scotland another plant – I call it the Harebell – gets called the Bluebell, but they certainly have our Bluebell, calling it I believe the Wild Hyacinth.
By the way, it is against the law to dig up bluebells to take them away.
The other blue-flowered plant may have been Alkanet (Anchusa species? ).

  3. Look forward to your drives out, yes spring is lovely when the trees start to leaf and the daffodills bluebells etc. But please watch out for the stinging nettles, it will sting badly if you catch your hand on them. When i was a kid i fell into a whole bunch of them and ended up in a could bath and being rubbed down whith calomine lotion. i thought iwas going to end up in Hospital. 😫😫

  4. Suffolk pink dates back to the 14th Century when the colour was discovered by dyers local to the area. Traditionally, limewash was added to the exterior of houses in the county and it was believed it added an extra layer of protection.

  5. So you made it to Essex, Harwich is where the mayflower was built, and up the orwell is Ipswich which supplied the sails and ropes and crew

  6. I live in Stevenage, not far from there and we have a lot of bluebell woods. They only grow in ancient woodland and come to life when the ground warms up and there is plenty of light. When the canopy closes up the light is cut off and they die off for another year. My local woods even have a few white ones, that always appear in the same place. The planes that fly over are on the last leg into Stansted. Thank you for sharing.

  7. I would definitely be interested on your opinions on driving in the UK. It is great to think there is nothing in the woods to kill you, unless you eat some plants. Walking in the woods is always so surreal.

  8. Magical…the combination of fresh lime leaves and bluebells is very hard to beat, and you had the place to yourself and the birds. Couldn't ask for more. I think the other blue flowers were alkanet, one of the borage family. You can pick up a packet of borage(herb) seeds and sow them now and they will flower gorgeous true blue flowers in the summer Give them a sunny well drained spot. Beloved of insects. You'll probably see seas of forget-me-nots at this time of year too, and of course white May blossom(hawthorn) everywhere you look. Spring is delicious! Lovely trip.

  9. We so love our spring flowers here in the UK .
So sad that one complete bluebell wood in Kent has been covered in tons of illegally dumped building waste .
The caretakers of the wood say it will cost about ten million pounds to completely clear it, and we know there's no guarantee that these fly tippers will not do it again .
