Hey guys, I got this vintage benotto frame for free. The person before tried making a single speed. I would love to turn it in a commuter. something like the picture with a basket. I like the ticker tires but I’m afraid it won’t fit cause it used te be a road bike. Does anyone have experience with this that has any tips? Or should I just save my time and buy an old mountain bike.

Lovely frame, but definitely won’t fit much bigger than probably 25 or 28c. Converting wheel sizes would be really hard, as it doesn’t have cantilever brakes. I’d either build it as a road bike, maybe with some skinny knobbies, or sell it and use the money towards a old mtb.
keep the frame for a different project.
what you’re looking for is a touring frame with canti bosses that fits large rubber.
