Am new to bikes and bought a second-hand road bike but later noticed there was serious wear in the chain ring. It seemed the previous owner rode on the smallest chainring and cog, thus the cross chaining. I’m about to bring it to the bike shop for servicing to make sure everything’s working properly but is the chainring wear gonna pose some problems? Will the mechanic suggest changing it or will it affect shifting?

In my opinion, that’s an unusual amount of wear. I’d be more worried about the condition of the wear on the chain than the chain ring; while those bare marks are deep, I don’t think it will affect the chain ring.
Could also be a too-wide chain (like a 9sp chain on rings made for 11sp).
