So the reason behind this was that I wanted to try drop bars and see how i liked them, without spending heaps of money.
So rather than spending heaps of money on new brakes, shifters, cables, housings etc and then hating it, i set out to reuse my existing parts.
Total cost was about $35
Brakes are my mtb flat bar ones slid onto the flats.
The shifters are normal thumb shifters that have been mounted to a carbon fibre rod on an extension bracket.
And shockingly, the shifters feel great up there.
Easily shifted by hand, and without the awful clunky feeling of a lot of brake shifters
Temporary no bar tape, because i forgot to buy elec tape to seal the end.
But yeah, my oddball setup using what I had on hand.

This gets cooler the longer I look at it!
It looks functional and logical.
Try running them as bum bars 🤣
