I somehow over tightened the screw and it broke. Cannot be saved ? I tried with a screwdriver but without success. Shall I start searching for a new one ? The front derailleur is shimano 600 tricolour

If the problem is only to take out the screw, then most likely yes, it can be saved.
Tryo to grip the protruding part with grip pliers (or, better, a vise, if you have one).
Best would be to wel a nut over it.
If all else fails, file it smooth, drill it out and tap the hole to use a larger screw.
