So this has become a problem recently. The creaking occurs when pressure is applied on the right pedal and when it reaches approx 3 o’clock position. The harder the pedal the louder the creak, the lighter pedal the quieter the creak. It always occurs at the same 3 o’clock position regardless of speed and gear. I have re-oiled the chain but made no difference and can’t figure out where it’s coming from. Could it be a problem with the frame of the bike?

Have you checked the BB for play? Are the bearings smooth? Have you checked that the crank bolts are tight? Chainring bolts? Have you checked if the cassette is tight? If you stand and pedal do you still hear it?
