    Mechanic had said they needed to be changed. Per my earlier post they tried to overcharge me excessively so I changed my first pair tonight.

    Just curious how dead folks think they were. I compared them to the new ones and they seemed about 50% thinner or basically the thickness of the the metal on the outside (of one side).

  2. You don’t need the guess work, your brakes had a pair of yellow spacers for the pads. There is built in caliper in those to measure the pads, basically a go no go. The three prong end. Maguras pads sometimes look like they still have a lot of life in there, but nope, you can check them yourself pretty easily though.

    There’s pad material left there, so if they’re working ok, I wouldn’t change them. I don’t know what the material is, but it looks pretty dark, perhaps they could do with a rub-down.

    If it was my personal bike I would have run them longer. If I was a bike mechanic expecting customers come in for annual service I would replace them in a heart beat.
