I used (what I thought was a correct) 6mm hex key to remove this cap and it stripped it like butter.
This cap doesn’t have a central bolt like I’m used to – the cap is integral to the bolt.
Is there a different process? Thoughts on getting this unstuck?

I recently had my recalled caadx fork replaced and the one they gave me has a very similar top cap to what you’ve got. It appears to be weird like this because the steerer tube is carbon, so no star nut in there, just an expansion plug. This thread:

Makes it look like there’s a 5mm fitting that holds the plug in, and the 6mm fitting in the cap applies preload by snugging the cap assembly down onto the plug. If I’m understanding this correctly you should be able to remove the top cap along with the expansion plug by loosening the 5mm (partially so as to not drop the expansion plug into the steerer) and pulling the whole assembly out of the steerer… but I’m not sure I’m understanding it correctly. Nervously looking forward to eventually servicing the headset on my bike, will surely remember whatever I see in this thread at that point lol
