I’m currently running 3×8 shimano on this bike, but I’m looking to stick a disc brake on the front. The current shimano shifter is integrated with the front v brake lever so I can’t put the disc brake lever on until I’ve sorted that. I’ve got this salvaged sram shifter for 8x gears which clamps onto the bar separately, would I be able to use this with the rear shimano derailleur? is there a clamp available that could replace the brake lever section? Is there a way to dismantle the lever section and remove it? It would look a bit clunkier but I’m trying to keep this a parts bin bike.

No. That shifter doesn’t work with that RD anyway
Why not get a mechanical disc? There are good ones out there. Avid BB5 or BB7 are great
