Have the option to pickup a regular Rockhopper 29 (second picture) for $250 but it is a size large and I am worried it will be too big for me at 5’8/5’9.
Alternative is pickup a new Comp 29 in a size medium, but at full retail as I can’t seem to find used ones locally.
Would I have trouble sizing up to the Large if I am right on the cusp of it?? Or should I upgrade in the medium and take advantage of the 1x drive train?
Initial budget was $700 so the comp is certainly pushing when you also add tax and the regular used one is a hell of a value deal I think.
Any input appreciated.

I understand I could get a regular new rockhopper in medium but they are going for $500-$600 depending on the shop and I feel that’s too much for what it is.
I’d try the 2nd hand large one. If it’s too big . Move it on.. for $300..
