I got this frame with an almost brand new Campagnolo square taper bb, came with an old campag 3x “racing triple” that has been converted to a 1x.
I have a full set of 6700 ultegra, plus some shimano 600 crank arms that are square taper.
I thought all square taper are the same but now know the Japanese did things differently back then.
So now my crankset is sitting too close to the frame and my front derailer bottoms out on small-large.
I also have a brace-on r7000 front derailer but I’m not sure if that’s going to work – an opposite problem with arise with it being too far out to shift into the small chainring. (I think)
So what are my options here? I would imagine getting a large chainring for my existing triple crank would work? But that’s hard to come by. Maybe get an old double Campagnolo/iso square taper crank and hope it works?
Should I shim the sides of my square taper and hope it works?
Should I try and find someone who can remove the bb and start over with a new bb/crank etc?
Was looking forward to riding this weekend but looks like it’s not going to happen…

You need a bb with a slightly longer spindle
So you replaced the square taper BB with another BB and now your chainrings are too close to the frame?
Or you replaced the cranks on an installed square taper bb and now they’re too close
Either way this seems to be a spindle length issue – look into getting the same BB (thread style) with a greater overall length to space the cranks farther away from the frame
3x cranks should be spaced so that the middle ring is pretty much dead in line with the middle of the cassette
Sheldon brown probably has you covered with what spindle length bb this crank was intended to be used with
Buy three or four from Amazon, loosely install them and test fit, return or parts bin the rest for future bikes
What are you trying to achieve here? Larger chainrings for the racing triple should be standard 110 BCD on the larger side and 74(? better check it) for the small ring. Nothing special. Run just the larger two and you got yourself a compact crank.
