Wanted to get a vintage bicycle for trekking (carrying some bicycle bags/ heavier weight for prolonged time) and also for riding around the city nicely. Would you think this is fitting for my purposes?

Sure, build a new wheel with a rohloff internally geared hub or only ride on flats/down hill.
