  1. While out cycling, I popped 2 spokes yesterday, so I started relacing the wheel and noticed severe cracking between 8 of the holes.

The rim is 13 years old, off a 2011 Trek Sawyer, so I just assumed is was merely thin spoke fatigue (1.8mm!) – but no, the rim is cooked.

I have never cracked a rim like this before, though I have ruined rims as a 115KG guy. I have a set of 26” D521 rims on my MTB – boy I wish they were 29 inch rims – they are perfect – nothing can bother them.

What is a good budget 29er alu MTB rim? Looking for around 25mm inner diameter to match the remaining Rim. a 400$ DTSwiss rim is way out of my price range.
