I am currently repairing my old bike (my first time doing this) and need to replace my old sturmey archer thumb shifter for my 3-speed sturmey archer hub gear (three speed AWC). Can I replace the thumb shifter with any other 3-speed shifter or do I need another thumb shifter? If so, would any other brand of three speed thumb shifter also work or are they generally not compatible with a different brand hub gear?

Needs to be sturmey compatible, thos still exist, so do more cleric looking ones and I think 3s gripshift
no, you need a sturmey archer shifter, this looks like [sls3n](https://www.sturmey-archer.com/en/products/detail/sls3n), any sturmey archer 3 speed shifter should work
