Hi, I’m shopping for a new aerodynamic bike for half and full Ironman races. There are two models in particular that I’m considering, the Trek Madone SL6 Gen 7 and the Canyon Aeroad CF SLX 7 Di2. Both bikes come with the Shimano 105 R7170 Di2, but the Canyon comes with a powermeter, which the Trek doesn’t have. And the Trek is $1000 more expensive. Which option would be best for me, price isn’t much of an issue but I’m undecided on which would be the better option. I’ll also be adding TT bars but I don’t want to buy a triathlon bike. Thanks to everyone for the advice!

Advantage of the trek will be you likely have a dealer to dial in fit. Other than that I don’t know that you will experience much difference unless you intend to train with the power meter.

Canyon all day and buy power meter pedals.
How long do you keep your bikes, and how do you treat them? Trek has a lifetime warranty, Canyon has 6 years, if that is a factor for you at all.
I recently bought a mid-ish level CF SL Canyon and I’m really impressed. I love the bike, rides like a dream and is so much faster and smoother than my old (2010) Cannondale. Personally, I dig the power meter and lower cost, gives you more money for goodies to throw on the bike! Trek makes a great bike, but Canyon gets my vote.
Currently waiting for a model to come back in stock to replace my commuter with a Canyon, in fact lol.
